Introduction
The exploitation of an immersive room (CAVE) requires specific knowledge in computer science (network, 3D computer graphics, concept of real time, programming...) which is difficult to have whatever the fields likely to use such equipment. End users are experts in their fields and are not destined to become virtual reality experts.
Without competent and consistent human resources, getting the most out of the hardware of an immersive room is a very difficult task.
InMind-VR answers this problem. The proposed tool, MindDev SIM, allows the visualization of business models without in-depth skills of virtual reality or programming, allowing the user to remain focused on his field of expertise while exploiting to the maximum the capabilities of his Cave.
Presentation
MindDev Sim is a set of components and tools allowing to use the MindDev functionalities in an immersive room and the capabilities of immersive rooms in MindDev. To do this, a set of tools allows the control of the hardware while 2 new protocols are available to take advantage of these immersive spaces.
Fully configurable, MindDev Sim offers these features in addition to the MindDev features:
- 2 available protocol trees: CAVE and CAVE VIZ
- Visual design of the projection system
- Support for UNITY REFLECT (via UNITY PRO) with metadata integration
- Integration of business tools by configurable palette
- Synchronization of 3D objects
- Extension of business functionalities by plugins
- No programming required for simple use
- No recompilation required for each modification
MindDev Sim features
Some features are compatible with a conventional use of MindDev. All the business tools are available for VR protocols for example.
Difference in behavior and structure
The Cave and Cave Viz protocols of MindDev Sim have a slightly different behavior than conventional protocols, and their logical structure differs for the display system. MindDev Sim offers the possibility to execute configurable commands at launch and at the end of the run.
