Excel Exporter

VRmaze offers a tool for exporting data in Excel format (.xlsx). The Excel exporter allows the compilation, within a single file, of multiple pass files.

The interest of the exporter is to be able to compile the data and to group them in the form of tables with formulas and integrated graphs, in addition to possibly providing a compilation of the data from the participants' database

License required

A specific license is required for the Excel exporter.

Knowledge of the software

Excel file generation requires sufficient knowledge of the software, storing data within a result file and extracting data using data filters.

Generation procedure

The proposed Excel exporter is designed to limit human work to a minimum by maximizing automatic processing. However, it is necessary for the operator to produce a certain number of actions allowing the generation.

The export procedure is framed by a wizard in several steps allowing the operation to be carried out successfully.

The procedure is as follows. The most complex human work consists in creating a reference protocol, i.e. a result protocol containing all the filters added manually in order to obtain the desired data extractions.

Reference protocol ?

Follow the procedure for creating a reference protocol here

With the reference protocol created, VRmaze is able to copy the entire extraction structures to other protocols. The next step is to select the set of protocols to process. The wizard will check the structure of the protocol to be processed and compare it to the reference protocol before adding it.

Reference protocol and protocols to process

It is necessary that the protocols to be processed have exactly the same structure as the reference protocol. Indeed, to be able to automatically copy the extraction structures, the wizard must find the same original structures from one protocol to the other.

Resource usage ?

The generation procedure uses a multi-processor system when possible. This consumes more resources, but allows faster generation.

File modification

The result files are not modified during the procedure.

When the file selection is done, the end of the procedure consists in proposing a formatting of the Excel file, sheet by sheet, via a graphic interface in the form of a tree, and for which the tools already described for the protocol tree are applicable.

Save formatting

In addition to the conventional tools it is possible to save the formatting to be able to apply it to several extractions and obtain the same formalism between Excel files.

The procedure ends by saving the Excel file to the hard drive.
