VR Protocols and Steam VR
The VR protocol requires a special configuration to run. Indeed, VRMaze relies on the OpenVR library to run on a virtual reality headset.
It is necessary to install SteamVR
via the Steam
program in order to run a VR protocol.
The user should configure his room via the SteamVR room configurator.
Launching SteamVR
When running, or testing a protocol, VRmaze will automatically launch SteamVR
. So there is no need to launch SteamVR first.
Internet connection not required
The VRmaze + SteamVR bundle does not require an internet connection to work
HTC Headsets
HTC headsets are natively supported by SteamVR, however, some headsets such as the Vive Cosmos require the Vive software. Compatible HTC headsets are :
- HTC Vive
- HTC Vive Pro
- HTC Vive Pro Eye
- HTC Vive Cosmos
HTC Vive Pro Eye headset
The HTC vive Pro Eye headset has a built-in Eye Tracker compatible with VRmaze. It requires the installation of the SRAnipal program from HTC.
Oculus/Meta headsets
Oculus headsets require additional installation of the Oculus executable. Compatible headset are :
- Oculus Rift + Touch
- Oculus Rift S + Touch
- Meta Quest 2 + Touch
Room setup
The Oculus executable allows room setup in place of SteamVR.
Specific case of the Oculus/Meta Quest 2
The Meta Quest 2 headset has its own microprocessor and the use of this headset with VRmaze requires the connection to a Windows computer with the Meta Link Quest 2. This specific cable allows the connection to a computer and the use of SteamVR.
Meta Quest 2 Headset
It is necessary to enable data sharing of the Meta Quest 2 headset so as to activate the Oculus Link.
Meta Quest 2 Headset
It is necessary to install the Oculus application to enable communication with the Meta Quest 2 headset.
Other Headsets
Other SteamVR compatible headsets are normally compatible with VRMaze, however, VRMaze does not offer configuration of joystick actions by default.
